Beer Brewing Vessel

The essential equipment for home brewing are:

  1. A vessel for boiling the ingredients.
  2. Fermentation vessel. bottles, caps, and a capping tool.
  3. Muslin or Terylene for straining.
  4. Plastic tube for syphoning.

Beer Brewing Vessel

Probably you will want to make your beer in 18l lots; that is two dozen bottles. The vessel to be used for boiling the ingredients should hold about 4.5l. Preferably, it should have a capacity of 14 or 18l, so that 9l could be boiled in it with no risk of boiling over. Most kitchens would have a suitable aluminium boiler, but they are not expensive and almost certainly would have other uses. The boiler from a home bottling and preserving outfit would be very suitable. Failing these, a galvanised or tinned 18l can, well cleaned out, would prove quite suitable. Perhaps you may have an electric urn or boiler. Avoid bare copper or lead containers and do not put acid into galvanised or tinned vessels.
